Old Leg

I took this photo of a Galapagos Tortoise at the Philadelphia Zoo earlier this summer. I used black and white to emphasize the details and texture of the shell and the rough skin.
To me this photo looks more like a dinosaur than an animal you can find today. The tough skin, hard shell and slow movements of the tortoise make me think of it as a tank rather than a living thing. Amazingly they move somewhat fast when they are hungry and there is lettuce lying around.
